The Power of StumbleUpon
One of the great tools for promoting your website is StumbleUpon. I felt for many of our clients at Damang Media Group this site promotion tool is seldom used and not really understood as a tool for promoting a websites.
What is StumbleUpon
It is like channel surfing on the internet, the tool randomly displays websites based on the interests you set in your preferences when you setup an account. Here is what StumbleUpon says:
StumbleUpon helps you discover and share great websites. As you click Stumble!, we deliver high-quality pages matched to your personal preferences. These pages have been explicitly recommended by your friends or one of 5,772,433 other web surfers with interests similar to you. Rating these sites you like () automatically shares them with like-minded people – and helps you discover great sites your friends recommend.
How does it work?
It is really a great concept for surfing the web and finding new sites that may be of interest. It eliminates the guess-work digging through google search results and delivers targeted sites that have been recommended by other StumbleUpon users. If fact StumbleUpon is roughly has a network of 5,772,433 users. Wow, this is a great community and as you can see with 5,772,433 user it can be a great source for traffic to your website. Here is what StumbleUpon has to say on how it works:
StumbleUpon uses / ratings to form collaborative opinions on website quality. When you stumble, you will only see pages which friends and like-minded stumblers () have recommended. This helps you discover great content you probably wouldn’t find using a search engine.
So what can StumbleUpon do for your site
I have used StumbleUpon off and on for promoting my site and some of our other sites and have had great results. An example is a test I ran last week, as many of you know this is a new site for daMANG hosting and I am working on getting more traffic to come to the site. Here is what my results show from an article I posted and the use of StumbleUpon from last week. I saw my traffic double in a 6 hour period with a traffic jump from 624 visitors to 1578 visitors. That now has been a regular flow of traffic StumbleUpon brings on a daily basis to our site.
